SRL No 97 A4 Class No 60010 at Doncaster in March 1962 with 02 Class No 63936

Gresley A4 Class 4-6-2 No 60010 'Dominion of Canada' at Doncaster during a visit to the works for a light casual in March 1962. Moved from 34A Kings Cross after closure of that shed to 34E New England where it stayed until October 1963. A move north of the border to Aberdeen Ferryhill for use on the 3hr express to Glasgow. Withdrawal came in May 1965 and the loco sat behind Darlington Works enveloped by growth until the closure of that shed in March 1966. It was moved to Crewe Works for cosmetic restoration and donated to the Canadian Railroad Historical Association where she stayed until 2012. The loco along with 60008 also overseas were brought back to the UK for a reunion with the other surviving A4's. She returned to Canada in 2014. I was fortunate enough to go and see 60010 at Shildon (2011) still in her 1966 Crewe paint-shop condition a relic from the past and a joy to see. Behind the A4 we see Gresley 02 Class 2-8-0 No 63936.
