LNER Gresley A3 Class 4-6-2 No 2544 'Lemberg' passing Marshmoor Sawmills near Hatfield in 1928. Allocated to Doncaster at the time of this photograph and when built in 1924 was to an A1 Class design. Rebuilt to an A3 Class in December 1927. Ten years later it was transferred to the north-east allocated to Darlington,Gateshead and Heaton until withdrawn from Darlington MPD in late 1964 as number 60045 with double chimney(fitted in 1959) and smoke deflectors(fitted in 1962) Simon Lathlane Collection
