SRL No 7 LNER A1 Class No 2551 at Woolmer Green possibly with the 10.00 am Flying Scotsman express heading north August 1925.

LNER A1 Class No 2551 not yet named at Woolmer Green August 1925. The loco was later renamed in December 1925 'Prince Palatine" ( winner of the 1911 St Leger ) From information received on the LNER Encyclopedia page to which I'm most thankful to the working looks like the 10.00 am KX-York 'Flying Scotsman' service. At that time 2551 was a Grantham allocated engine and it is thought she would have worked from Grantham shed on the last leg on the Up sleeper service to KX. 2551 would work to York with a crew change at Grantham and then returning on the UP Flying scotsman back to Grantham at 4.00 pm. Rebuilt to an A3 spec in 1940 and under BR ownership she became 60052. The loco finished her days working north of the border and had the distinction of being the last A3 Class in service withdrawn from Edinburgh St Margaret's MPD in January 1966.
