SRL No 8 LNER A1 Class No 2552 at Potters Bar in 1926.

A superb low viewpoint shot of LNER Gresley A1 Class 4-6-2 No 2552 'Sansovino' at Potters Bar in 1926. A Kings Cross loco at the time working a Down express in fine style. Apple Green livery with Black & White lining. Named after the 1924 Epsom Derby winner. Whilst allocated to Copley Hill (Leeds) depot she was rebuilt as an A3 spec in September 1943. In 1946 the loco was renumbered 521 and then 53 before under BR ownership the loco received its final number of 60053. A long spell allocated to depots in the north-east before a short spell at Edinburgh St Margarets and a final move south again to Heaton in 1963. Withdrawal from Heaton took place 27 May 1963.
