SRL No 15 LNER A3 Class 4-6-2 No 2550 'Blink Bonny' at King's Cross 1st May 1928.

A wonderful portrait shot of LNER Gresley A1 Class 4-6-2 No 2550 'Blink Bonny' at Kings Cross station 1st May 1928 on a bright and sunny day. Note the loco number on the tender below the LNER in smaller lettering. I understand this changed in mid 1928 when just LNER was on the tender and the number on the cab-side. She was rebuilt to an A3 Class in late 1945 and just after the war spent time allocated to Grantham and Copley Hill (Leeds) sheds before moving to the north-east. The loco was withdrawn in November 1964 from 52A Gateshead shed as No 60051. Behind the A1 we can just make out GNR/LNER Ivatt C1 Class 4-4-2 No 4400 (1400 in 1905) later 2830 in 1946. The C1 lasted one more year before withdrawn in December 1947. In the far background we can just see A1 Class No 2559 'The Tetrarch'.
