SRL No 39 A3 4472 at King's Cross 1966

Gresley A3 Class 4-6-2 No 4472 Flying Scotsman on a London Kings Cross-York The Elizabethan rail tour 22nd October 1966. This was a rail tour beset with problems having been delayed by two weeks due to changes to the itinerary. This also changed the two original locos down for the tour after the organisers requested a Kings Cross start from the original Peterborough start. In the end the A3 worked as far as York, then Bullied MN Class No 35026 'Lamport & Holt Line' carried on to Newcastle and back again to York later. 4472 took the passengers back to the capital. Here she is now in private ownership with Mr Pegler looking out of the cab and now with two tenders. A gallery of railway staff look on.
