SRL No 891 WD Austerity Class No 90051 at Birstall GCR
WD Austerity Class 2-8-0 No 90051 works a down express freight at the lovely location foot crossing opposite John Road in Birstall Great Central Railway. Thought to date from just after nationalisation with the chalked number on the buffer and side cab. Note the old bullhead chaired sleepers in the down cess. The up line was relayed around 1953 in flat bottom rail. My thanks to Graham Williams and Alan Godber for these observations on Facebook Great Central Railways Then & Now site.
