SRL No 376 Merchant Navy Class No 35012 on the turntable at Carlisle Kingmoor RCTS Solway Ranger railtour 13th June 1964

Bullied Merchant Navy Class 4-6-2 No 35012 'United States Lines' on the turntable at Carlisle Kingmoor after working in with the RCTS Solway Ranger rail tour 13th June 1964. The Pacific took the route over Shap and was on course for a record northbound climb with recorded speed at Scout Green of 75mph until a signal at danger was seen at Shap Wells and the Pacific was brought to a dead stand. Control had let a train out in front believe to be an 8F a big disappointment to all those on board that day and to the crew who had worked so hard. The Pacific would work back to Leeds City station later in the day.
